The Challenger II
Airspeed High Ultralights operates a 2006 Challenger II advanced ultralight. Made by Quad City Aircraft Corporation since 1983, this aircraft is one of the safest and most popular ultralights anywhere. Over 600 Challengers are registered in Canada, making it the most popular ultralight in Canada. The Challenger features tandem seating giving you unmatched visibility in all directions. Controls are quick to master and the aircraft is a joy to fly.
C-ILVB is fitted with a state of the art electronic flight instrument system (EFIS) otherwise known as a glass cockpit. The aircraft has a ballistic recovery system ( BRS ) mounted over the wing. In the case of an emergency a handle can be pulled to deploy a parachute that will bring the entire aircraft safely to the ground. The cabin is comfortable to fly in the summer or winter with cabin heat and a fully enclosed cockpit.
The visibility from the Challenger is nothing short of spectacular. In the summer months when the temperatures warm up you can remove the doors to get that "wind in your hair" convertible feeling! The Challenger can be equipped with amphibious floats or skis for water and winter flying.
